Clarach Bay is situated just north of Aberystwyth, and looks out across Cardigan Bay. It is approximately 500 yards wide and is made up of coarse sand and shingle, flanked by cliffs of shale. The Afon Clarach emerges on the north side near to the car parking area which overlooks the beach. Holiday parks are situated in the valley behind the beach, with hundreds of caravans and chalets. Facilities here include toilets, takeaways, cafes and a bar with a decking area overlooking the bay. Lifeguards patrol from early July until early September and dog restrictions apply to the beach area which runs parallel with the breakwater, from 1st May to 30th September. Popular activities here include swimming, windsurfing and canoeing.
