Traeth Soden

Traeth Soden

Traeth Soden (also known as Cwm Silio) is a peaceful, secluded cove very similar to nearby Cwmtudu, but without the road. The beach is made up of coarse sand and shingle and backed by the deep narrow valley of the Afon Soden. For approximately an hour either side of low tide, it is possible to walk to another small, secret cove just to the north (bottom photo). Parking is available at Cwmtydu, but closer roadside parking can be found on the road to St Tysilio's Church at Grid Ref SN363573. From here, take the footpath through the churchyard and to the east side of the church. The path descends into a valley of ancient woodland and crosses two small streams (with waterfalls nearby). Continue a short distance up the opposite side of the valley until you meet another path running along the valley side. This can then be followed to the beach.
