Thurstaston Beach

Thurstaston Beach

Thurstaston Beach is the first beach along the Wirral's western coast, on the Dee estuary. It has a wide sandy margin at the top backed by subsiding clay cliffs, but a short distance out the shore becomes a mix of sand and mud. The lane from Thurstaston village leads to a (free) car parking area on grass next to the Wirral Way cycle path. Access to the beach is a short walk to the very end of the lane from where a path on the right leads to some wooden steps down to the beach.

The area above the beach is mostly parkland and a caravan park and facilities include a snack bar, picnic tables, toilets and a visitor centre.

Dogs are allowed at all times. The photo was taken at low tide.
