Aberfforest Beach

Aberfforest Beach

Aberfforest is a small, secluded cove between Dinas Head and Newport. Access is from the A487, where lay-by parking can be found nearby on both sides of the road - (Grid ref : SN028387). A public footpath follows a wide farm road (signposted 'Aberfforest') almost all the way to the beach. Alternative access is along the coastal path from Cwm-yr-Eglwys.

The beach is shingle at the back, with some low-tide dark sand. Overlooking the bay are some holiday homes, which spoil its seclusion, but it's a good beach for swimming at high tide.

About 200 yards behind the beach, is a waterfall set in a wooded valley which is definitely worth the short walk.

Comment : I now live in Spain but the walk through the fields starting at Cwm-yr-eglyws, entering the magical forest above Aberfforest was one of my favourite walks. When I first saw the waterfall in the middle of the forest it was breathtaking and to emerge to the pretty cove was a delight.
