Aberfforest Beach

Aberfforest is a small, secluded cove between Dinas Head and Newport. Access is from the A487; a public footpath follows a wide farm road (with signs saying Aberfforest) almost all the way to the beach. Layby parking can be found nearby on both sides of the road - (Grid ref : SN028387). Alternative access is along the coast path from Cwm-yr-Eglwys.

The beach is shingle at the back, and some dark sand at low tide. Some holiday homes have been built behind the beach, which spoil its seclusion. It's a good beach for swimming at high tide.

About 200 yards away along the wooded valley behind the beach, is a waterfall which is definitely worth the short walk. A footpath on the left here leads back to the farm road to the A487.

Comment : I now live in Spain but the walk through the fields starting at Cwm-yr-eglyws, entering the magical forest above Aberfforest was one of my favourite walks. When I first saw the waterfall in the middle of the forest it was breathtaking and to emerge to the pretty cove was a delight.
