Kilroom is a little-known beach of sandstone rocks, pebbles and sand situated north of South Hook Point. There are some streams and rock-pools, and it's very sheltered for sunbathing. At low tide it is possible to walk westwards around to another sandy cove. Access is by means of a steep narrow path which leaves the coastal path and follows a small stream down to the shore. The closest parking is at Sandy Haven. Alternatively, park in Herbrandston village and follow the narrow lane south, taking a footpath on the right about 100 yards after the Sandy Haven turning. This leads to the coastal path at the east side of Sandy Haven beach from where Kilroom is a walk of about ¾ mile eastwards.
