Pwllgwaelod Beach

Pwllgwaelod Beach

Pwllgwaelod is a small sheltered cove on the west side of Dinas Island. There is a small, free car park, which fills up quickly and access to the beach is a walk of a few yards across the road and down a slipway. The beach is made up of dark sand backed by shingle, and is generally safe for swimming. The car park has toilets with disabled facilities, and drinking water is available. Adjacent to the car park is The Old Sailors Pub/Restaurant (formerly called the Sailors Safety) which has outdoor seating. An asphalt footpath suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs leads through a sheltered valley rich in bird and wildlife to Cwm-yr-Eglwys on the other side of Dinas Island. Cwm-yr-Eglwys can also be reached by taking the coast path around Dinas Island.

For those who like some seclusion, a small hidden cove to the south can be reached by walking over the rocks at low tide or else by a short swim.
