Pwllgwaelod

Pwllgwaelod

Pwllgwaelod is a small sheltered cove on the west side of Dinas Island. The small, free car park fills up quickly and has toilets ♿ and drinking water. Access to the beach is then a walk of a few yards across the road and down a slipway. The shore is made up of dark sand backed by shingle, and is generally safe for swimming. Adjacent to the car park is The Old Sailors Pub/Restaurant (formerly called the Sailors Safety) which has outdoor seating. An asphalt footpath suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs leads through a sheltered valley rich in bird and wildlife to Cwm-yr-Eglwys on the other side of Dinas Island. Cwm-yr-Eglwys can also be reached by taking the coastal path around Dinas Island.

For those who like some seclusion, a small hidden cove to the south can be reached by walking over the rocks at low tide or else by a short swim.
