Newton Bay (also known as Black Rock beach) is the most easterly of Porthcawl's beaches and is mostly sand with rocks towards Newton Point. The beach is backed by a sea wall and dunes, with Trecco Bay Holiday Park on the west side. The dunes and sandy beach extend eastwards towards Merthyr Mawr beach. Parking is at a P&D car park overlooking the beach, and free roadside parking can easily be found nearby. Access to the shore is down a slipway, and dogs are allowed at all times. This beach does not have lifeguards.

Comment : Lovely beach i love it! Just a shame about the new parking scheme. BE AWARE !! I have been going to this beach for over 30 years. And I always pay to park than block the street....I paid and displayed yet got Charged £60! **Please be aware your ticket may blow off the dash when you close your car door or as in my case slip further down on the dash so i was booked!** I sent a photo of my ticket as proof via email i had paid and display yet they refuse to listen. If i want to appeal i have the risk of it being £100 if i do not pay within 14 days. In my view heavy handed and a lack of common sense! I feel for the local residence as this will only drive people to parking outside their home. A sad shock for a quick walk on the beach with our dog. Please enjoy this great beach it is well worth a visit and the further to the left toward Ogmore beach is alot quieter...BUT please be aware of the risk of being booked a crazy amount even if you have a valid ticket and are back in time! Please make sure your ticket is up the right way not blown on to the floor of your car and does not slip partly out of view. Please pass on and save your friends and family the stress and upset.
