Trecco Bay is a mostly sandy beach situated between Rhych Point and Newton Point. It is backed by a sea wall and dunes with the coastal path running around the back of the beach. Behind this is the extensive caravan park. Access is down ramps or steps. There is free parking at Newton Point which is well signposted as you enter Porthcawl from the east, but reaching this car park involves driving through the holiday park with its innumerable speed bumps. Some roadside parking can be found on Rhych Avenue which runs along the west side of the holiday park.
Lifeguards patrol from the end of April until end of September (10.30 am - 6.00 pm). A dog ban operates from May to September inclusive.
Rip currents occur near Newton Point and bathing is prohibited in this area. Being sheltered by the harbour, surf conditions here are good when nearby Rest Bay is blown out. Best times are mid to high tide.
