Uphill beach is at the southern end of Weston Bay, and is mostly fine sand at the top of the beach and deep mud lower down. The beach is backed by dunes which are covered with sea buckthorn, with a golf course behind. The river Axe and the headland of Brean Down are at the southern end of the beach. Signs warn against approaching the sea at low tide and advise that it is not possible to cross the river on foot (due to mud).

There is parking on the sand which is P&D (and quite expensive), but roadside parking can easily be found a short distance back along the road. Dogs are allowed at all times, and the sand is mechanically cleaned during the summer. Facilities include a small cabin serving takeaways, and toilets about 400 yards back along the access road.
