Home to the Red Wharf Bay sailing club, Traeth Bychan is a popular beach for watersports, including jet-skiing, wind-surfing and swimming. At high tide the beach divides into two - a sandy beach to the north, and a shingle-backed sandy beach to the south. Access from either side is down slipways.
The P&D car park is on the north side, and has (seasonal) toilets ♿. A beach shop / cafe is nearby, and a beach warden is in attendance during the summer. Alternative parking can be found on the east side of the A5025 at Grid Ref SH513841 (Lat : 53.3333°N, Lon : 4.2342°W), from where public footpaths can be followed along either of two lanes to the beach's southern end - a distance of about ½ mile.
Dogs are allowed at all times.
